This program will focus on meeting the needs of 10th grade students that are interested in enrolling in a technical program during their junior or senior year. The CTE Academy will provide instruction in Career and Technical Education preparation for future enrollment in one of the Mid-Maine Technical Center’s National or State Certified Programs. Many of the skill standards included in the CTE Academy curriculum are the same introductory skills taught in our twelve CTE program areas, creating a sequential curriculum to enhance student success.

Readability score: 10th grade
Student Admission Criteria:
The student should have a prior attendance record of 80% or higher.
The student needs to be enrolled in or have completed pre-algebra.
The student needs to have a Lexile score of 800 (6th grade level) or better.
The student needs to have the ability to follow multi-step directions, without assistance.
The student needs to have the ability to pass written Safety Tests, operate equipment and work safely.
Goal: To instill a work ethic and cultivate skills that will prepare students for enrollment in the programs offered at MMTC.
Maintain a passing grade of 75 or better.
Follow classroom rules and school policy.
Adhere to OSHA safety regulations and exhibit appropriate work place behavior
Exhibit social and personal skills to work as a team member
Complete a task independently after guided instruction
Ability to avoid and not create distractions
Willingness to participate in activities related to a variety of technical fields: Automotive, Culinary Arts, Construction, etc.
Physical ability and concentration to work on tasks for at least 1.5 hrs
